Discount travel

There are many discount travel agencies in Europe that offer flight and hotel packages at low prices. Many of these agencies have offices at airports and specialize in last minute trips. Many people pack their things say for a tropical vacation and head off to the airport to see what they can negotiate and fly out that same day. If you are open to anything, you might be able to find a price and location that pleases you.

We returned yesterday from Agia Galini in Crete where there is a little Germany vacation colony. Our trip was through LTurs and they arrange for many Germans to go there. The Germans have great wanderlust and heartily travel all over the place especially where there is sunshine which this country has in short supply.

Crete is great and I strongly recommend it. Very beautiful land and water, most people are welcoming and helpful, great raki (a strong local liquor), wine and wonderful seafood, incredible rich history, archaeological sites all over the place, strong regional culture. Some of the land looks like the Southwest of the US, mountainous, dry and brown with sparse vegetation. The landscape is different from place to place and there are many different habitats to explore, from canyons, mountains and caves to coasts, cities, towns and villages. Another great thing about Crete is that Zeus was born there!
