Growing underclass in Germany

A recently published report states that 8 percent or 6.5 million Germans see themselves as ostracized or left behind in German society. This study reflects the growing division of Germany into three classes: rich, middle class and poor. With the increase of an underclass comes the fear that those without may gravitate to the far right.

Politicians have begun to recognize that far too many have lost hope in their society. Chancellor Merkel, herself, has said that "we will not accept it." The question is whether German politicians have the will to do anything about the situation. Or, will this become one of those issues, such as education reform, which politicians discuss and discuss endlessly without taking any serious action?
