Annan says now way US can go now

I heard on the radio coming home today that Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the UN, said that there is no way the US can just pull out now from Iraq. The US is trapped there. If they leave, Iraq descends into chaos. If they stay, Iraq continues to deteriorate.

Sometimes the news reports on the effects the daily violence is having on people's lives. Iraqis have developed new words to express what they are dealing with: Tali, lamb, Sunni victim, Sakaka, death squad member, and Batta, car used by Shiite militias. The resilience of the Iraqi people to deal with their completely screwed up country has to be recognized and admired worldwide.
