As it is in heaven
I saw the movie the other day, Wie in Himmel, or As it is in Heaven and strongly recommend it. It's about a world famous orchestra director who returns to his home village because of health problems and the need to relax. He left the village with his family at the age of thirteen.
Now he's back and he's purchased the old school building. Over time he meets the town's inhabitants and begins working as the choir master for the church. I don't want to give too much away but needless to say his work with the choir transforms its members and himself. Tons of catharsis in this film as everyone starts getting rid of their shadows from the past and renews their commitment to life. And the choir eventually wins....
Better than the film itself was the venue. It was shown as part of the open air cinema series at zachersmuehle. zachersmuehle is a wonderful place. Founded by leftists about twenty years ago and still run as a cooperative, it is a restaurant, bar, beer garden, cultural venue and open air cinema. Tons of culture is presented there; everything from blues to tango, dance performances and much more. It's in the middle of a valley forest surrounded by trees in all directions. The beer is great, the food is wonderful and the feeling there is one of solidarity.
