Far right wins seats in recent state elections

The National Democratic Party or NPD won seats in the state parliment of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The far right neo-Nazi party won 7.3% of the vote that took place September 17. Mecklenburg is the home of Chancellor Merkel. It is where Bush visited this summer.

This is the second state parliment in which they have seats. The first is Saxony. They are now in office in three of Germany's six eastern states. This region has the country's highest unemployment rate with one in five people, for example, in Mecklenburg officially unemployed. The people off the rolls make the number undoubtedly higher.
