The war that lasted one week

In the class next to me is a student from Slovenia. I've learned some interesting things about this country in the past few days. Namely, there are about 1 million Slovenians and it takes 3 hours to drive through the country. Slovenia was also the first part of the ex-Yugoslavia to become independent. Serbia attacked Slovenia at the beginning of all that Yugo madness but the war lasted only one week. She said that people did not know why Serbia then gave up and concentrated on first Croatia, then Bosnia. She felt it might have been because Slovenia was the furthest region away and also that it was protected by its proximity to Austria and Italy.

You don't hear much about Slovenia in the german news. It has been reported recently though that Slovenia will adopt the Euro probably next year.
