Who will have the last laugh?

Even comedians are targeted in Iraq. Today I read that a popular comedian who made fun of the American occupiers and was critical of the Iraqi government was killed. Who will have the last laugh in Iraq? The Americans or the Iraqis? And if the Iraqis which ones? Are there special reasons why America went to such efforts to create such a tragic farce in Iraq? Does Bush and company find the situation so terrible as to be funny? They show no concern whatsoever for the Iraqi people and their plight. Even what the Americans say is incredibly funny. About a month ago Secretary of State Rice spoke of the Iraqis organizing a system for dealing with their oil dividends that will be a model for the Middle East. Is this not hilarious or what? Is she saying this for comic effect?
