200,000 people take to the streets

The government and unions are in radical disagreement over economic reforms in Germany. Companies with record profits such as Siemens and Allianz insurance have been laying people off. This has greatly angered the unions which took to the streets. 200,000 people protested the government's social and economic policies over the weekend. This protest caused great disgruntlement on the part of the Christian and Social Democrats, the two parties that make up Germany's government. Both angrily denounced the union actions
