Hegel's Geist seen in Stuttgart!

Hegel's house in Stuttgart is a must visit. There is a very interesting exhibit that places his life in the context of his times. There is also much meaningful memorabilia such as one of his hat's and other personal items of his and his family's.

I'm reading a book on German history called Germany, 1866-1945, by Gordon A. Craig that talks of the influence Hegel's philosophy of the state had on the writing of the German constitution of 1871. This constitution accorded a very weak role to parlimentarians who never acheived the power their brethren had in other countries such as Great Britain, France and the USA. Craig writes that some German historians account for this by referring to the influence Hegel's philosophy had on Germans, which persuaded them that the insitutions and forms of civilian life had no essential importance except in relation to the State.
