Prague
We drove to Prague over Easter weekend. It is a five hour drive from where we live. On the way we took a detour and entered the Czech Republic on a two lane highway. As soon as we crossed the border there were prostitutes waving at us hoping for business. The small towns we drove through did not look so economically depressed. The housing and buildings were sometimes dilapidated but were not completely run down.
Prague is incredibly beautiful, almost too much so. It was not bombed during WWII. The old neighborhoods have been completely renovated and are filled with stores, boutiques, restaurants, cafes and over this weekend a huge number of tourists. I am not certain if the city is just based on tourism and government but that could be the case.
