I always find it amazing and disheartening to discover....

I always find it amazing and disheartening to discover what a bubble Americans in Germany live in. Today I had to go to the Institute for Tropical Medicine in Tuebingen for vaccinations. I mentioned that I was going there to Americans whom I am presently working with and they had never heard of the place and acted as if they had never heard of the town. Tuebingen is one of the oldest university towns in Europe, is very renowned for its academic excellence, is 30 minutes away by car and the Institute is well known internationally. The Americans I am dealing with have also to get shots or have to recommend places to get them. Why they don't know of this Institute is beyond me. I believe they have their proverbial heads in the sand or up George Bush's ass.
