Anti-missile shield against fictitious enemy

Anti-missile shield against fictitious enemy. That is what many Germans think about the American proposed anti-missile shield which it wants to deploy in the Czech Republic and Poland. It's no wonder Putin recently slammed the US and Russian generals have publicly gnashed their teeth. A recent poll put over 75% of Germans against the anti missile installation.

What are the Americans thinking? The technology is unproven. The threat is not there. Is it a bargaining chip with Russia? To get them to stop supporting the civilian nuclear energy industry in Iran? Or for something else? We wait and see....
